Strongylodon are leguminous tropical plants, mostly vines, closely related to beans. In the wild, they are found mostly in tropical Asia and the South Pacific - in tropical forests, thickets, and near water bodies. Some species have exquisitely showy flower clusters, with blue hues that are unique in the plant world. Because of their color, they are a favorite in tropical and botanical gardens.
Water:
Strongylodon thrives in humid, tropical environments with consistent moisture. Water weekly to maintain even dampness; it is moderately drought-tolerant. As an evergreen climber, strongylodon benefits from rainwater, supporting its vigorous growth and high humidity needs.
Propagation:
Primary propagation for strongylodon involves seeds or cuttings in high humidity and warm conditions (25–30°C). Techniques include scarification for seeds and using growth hormones for cuttings. Maintain moisture and provide indirect light; root establishment takes several weeks before transplanting.
