Suillaceae is a genus of mushrooms that are most often found under conifer trees. Some (but not all) species of Suillaceae are edible and commonly known as butter mushrooms. With the decline in their natural habitats, several species of suillaceae are listed as vulnerable or endangered species.
Suillaceae species can cause mild to severe illness, mainly gastrointestinal disturbances like abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and excessive sweating. Symptoms may occur a few minutes after consumption and can persist for several days.
