Annual swertia
The height of the stem is 50 to 90 cm and it stands upright and branches. The cross-section is quadrangular with four ridges. Root leaves are large oval with several veins parallel to long petiole and they die in the flowering season. The foliage is oval (oval or lanceolate), 5 to 12 cm long and has a wedge-shaped base with a sharp tip. Branches grow from the sides of the leaves and sparsely add white (yellowish white) flowers with a flower pattern of 1 to 5 cm in length to the conical inflorescences. The corolla is deeply split into 4-5 parts and joined at the base, resembling a petal flower. The fissure has two 1.5 mm-diameter yellow-green nectar grooves with no hair-like assembly. There are many dark green spots on the fissure. The flowering time is during fall. The bud also divides into 4-5 parts, deeply, and the fragment is a wide-spread needle shape and shorter than the corolla fragment. The fruit is an amber fruit that splits a little longer than the corolla, giving a black-brown seed with fine granular protrusions on the surface of about 1 mm in length.

Water: Annual swertia prefers moderate moisture levels and benefits from weekly watering to thrive. Its water needs peak during active growth phases, reflecting its adaptation to outdoor conditions that mimic its native environment.
Fertilize: For annual swertia, use high-phosphorus fertilizers monthly during the growing season to enhance flowering and root growth. Lighter doses for young plants should be increased as they mature. Do not fertilize in winter to prevent nutrient burn, and follow product guidelines for optimal health.
Pruning: Annual swertia features small, star-shaped flowers and should be pruned from early to late spring. Key techniques include removing dead stems to boost growth, improving airflow, and tidying unruly growth. Regular pruning enhances flowering and overall vigor, ensuring a healthy, attractive plant throughout the growing season.
Propagation: Annual swertia, from the gentian family, requires well-draining soil, consistent moisture, and sufficient light for successful seed propagation. Proper management of these conditions is essential for the establishment and growth of annual swertia, leading to its distinctive flowering characteristics.
