Teaks lose their leaves in the dry season, growing the foliage back during the first monsoon. The trees spread by seeds and can live over 100 years in ideal growing conditions. These trees are cultivated in agricultural fields, where they are grown and harvested for their durable and fragrant hardwood.
Water:
Teaks flourishes in tropical environments with high humidity and regular moisture. It requires watering every two weeks, allowing soil to dry slightly in between. Seasonal rainfall influences irrigation; its growth may correspond with wet and dry cycles in its outdoor habitat.
Propagation:
Teaks propagates primarily through seeds, but can also be grown from cuttings, grafting, or micropropagation. Successful germination requires pre-treatment, warm temperatures (25-30°C), and high humidity. Seedlings need partial shade, while cuttings benefit from rooting hormone and misting. The process is moderately challenging.
