Water:
Originating from damp environments, swamp sun orchid requires consistent moisture and moderate humidity. Water weekly to maintain moisture levels. Indoor cultivation benefits from increased humidity, which can be achieved by using a water-filled pebble tray beneath the pot for healthier growth and blooms.
Fertilize:
Fertilize swamp sun orchid with Balanced Nutrition Fertilizers during growth and High Phosphorus Fertilizers pre-blooming, monthly at 1/4 strength. Proper fertilization fosters robust growth and vibrant blooms while avoiding over-fertilization. Adjust frequency seasonally, water pre-fertilization, and use gloves for safety.
Pruning:
Swamp sun orchid features vibrant blue flowers and requires minimal pruning, ideally in early to late spring. Trim dead leaves and spent stems to enhance growth and prevent disease. Use clean tools, and ensure proper watering after pruning for optimal health and blooming in the following season.
Propagation:
Swamp sun orchid is a terrestrial orchid thriving in marshy habitats. It propagates by dividing tubers during dormancy, ensuring each section has a healthy shoot. After division, replant in a moisture-retentive medium, and monitor for pests and diseases to maintain vigor.
