Thuidium are a genus of hundreds of creeping and branched fern mosses. They were named 'fern mosses' because of their branches' leafy likeness to cedar trees. Though native to warm environments in North America, they can also be found throughout Europe and Asia. Thuidium forms colonial mats upon rocks, logs, and trees from late summer to autumn.
Propagation:
Propagation of thuidium involves division and spore sowing, requiring medium light, consistent moisture, and well-draining, humus-rich soil. High humidity and avoidance of direct sunlight are essential. Division should occur in spring or fall, while spore sowing requires careful monitoring of moisture and fungal growth.
