Hanging fork fern is restricted to certain lands in the Southern Pacific, notably Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia. In New Zealand, it can normally be found as short spiky dark-green fronds (10 to 15 cm long), often with lighter bag-like sporangia at the bases of some of its "leaves". The plant possesses no true leaves; what appear to be leaves are flattened stems.
Propagation:
Propagation of hanging fork fern primarily involves spore sowing and division. Success relies on high humidity, indirect sunlight, and well-draining nutrient-rich substrates. Maintain stable temperatures and avoid direct sunlight. Difficulty ranges from moderate to high; divide rhizomes during repotting, ensuring roots are included, and keep moist until established.
