Triteleia is a genus of monocotyledon flowering plants. Species are native to western North America, from British Columbia south to California, with one species in northwestern Mexico. They are perennial plants growing from a fibrous corm, roughly spherical in shape. They get their name from the fact that all parts of their flowers come in threes. About 16 species are currently recognised in triteleia.
Water:
Triteleia originates from well-drained Mediterranean soils, thriving with moderate water needs. It requires weekly watering, allowing soil to dry slightly between sessions. As a bulbous plant, triteleia stores water in its bulb, enhancing resilience during dry seasons.
Propagation:
Propagation of triteleia is done through seed sowing and division, requiring adequate light, cool temperatures, and well-draining soil. Divide corms every 2-3 years in autumn, sow seeds in fall, and ensure consistent moisture. Maintain conditions of 50-55°F during growth for successful results.
