Uncarina are flowering, deciduous plants that grow as shrubs or small trees and are native only to Madagascar. They all have hooked seed pods; their scientific name Uncarina is derived from the Greek word unca, which means "hooked". They can be grown in pots or gardens, and many species are domesticated for that purpose, but domestication severely stunts their growth compared to wild specimens.
Water:
Uncarina thrives in semi-arid conditions, needing minimal water. Water every three weeks, allowing soil to dry out to prevent root rot. Preferring natural light, it is best grown outdoors in well-draining soil to reduce overwatering risks.
