Water:
Vervains 'Tapien' requires consistent watering in spring and summer, with reduced needs in fall and winter. Daily checks are essential, especially in hot weather. Water at the base in the morning to avoid damaging flowers. Neglecting watering can harm vervains 'Tapien', making recovery difficult.
Fertilize:
Vervains 'Tapien' requires frequent feeding to thrive. Use an organic water-soluble fertilizer applied directly to the soil to prevent leaf burn. Feed twice monthly in spring and summer, with some opting for monthly feedings in fall and winter.
Pruning:
Vervains 'Tapien' can grow 10cm-140cm tall and 2m wide. It blooms from early summer to mid-winter and requires monthly pruning in summer to maintain shape. Trim spent flowers and foliage, and avoid removing over a third of the plant to ensure future blooms.
Propagation:
Propagate vervains 'Tapien' from seeds or cuttings in spring. Seeds should be planted 2 inches deep indoors, 10 weeks before winter ends. Sprouting occurs in 2 weeks. Once seedlings reach 2-3 inches, harden them outdoors for a week before transferring to their final location.
