Also known as: Gypsyweed 'Rosie'
A cultivar of shrubby veronica, speedwells 'Rosie' is a compact, bushy evergreen with spears of its eponymous pink flowers appearing in summer. Water: Water speedwells 'Rosie' every 3 to 4 days, keeping the soil moist during growth and flowering. Increase watering in vigorous growth, and ensure moisture during full bloom. In winter, reduce watering; one thorough watering post-pruning in early spring signals the start of the new growth period.
Fertilize: Speedwells 'Rosie' needs minimal fertilizer, with water-soluble compound fertilizers applied at a ratio of 20-10-20 during growth and 10-30-20 before flowering. Fertilization can decrease in early fall, and it's unnecessary during recovery from root injury to prevent slow growth or damage.
Pruning: Speedwells 'Rosie' display beautiful tubular flowers. Prune spent blooms and dead stems in early spring to enhance growth and maintain shape. Regular pruning, limited to one-third of the plant, prevents disease and supports robust blooming throughout the growing season.
Propagation: Speedwells 'Rosie' can propagate through division, sowing, and cuttage. Division is best in mid-spring, using 2- to 3-year-old plants, ensuring 6 to 8 buds per cluster. Cuttage should occur in late spring or summer, with moist soil until rooting before transplanting.
