There is no hair on the whole. The rhizome is very short and not thick. Not much stock. No stems are produced. Leaves root a few. The height is at most 10 cm sometimes lower. The leaves have a long handle the leaf blades are 2 to 4 cm and the leaf handle is about the same or longer. The leaf blades are long and thin with a triangular narrow egg shape and a deep heart shape at the base. A very shallow saw blade appears on the edge. The leaves are soft and the surface is dark green with occasional white spots. The back side is usually light green and purple is usually on it. There are individual differences in purple color from light purple to fairly dark and in darker colors the petals are also purple. There is no hair on both sides. The flower stem stands up thinly. The flowering season is said to be spring but it is the earliest among the violets in the same area. The flowers are strongly reddish purple but spring be so thin that they appear almost white. The petals are 8 to 11 mm long the side valves are usually hairless the distance is 5 to 6 mm and they are thin and facing up.
