Korean weigela: The specific epithet, "coraeensis," is a Latinization of the name, "Korea." In spite of its affiliation with the Korean Penninsula, korean weigela is technically only naturalized there; its true native range is the large island of Japan, Honshu. Korean weigela was likely imported to mainland Asia thousands of years ago.
