How do you prune harlequin glorybower?
The harlequin glorybower should be pruned back at the end of winter and before the new season. This will help to balance out the plant's branches and maintain the round shape of bushy varieties. Pruning will ensure that the following season’s flowers will grow on existing stems. Dead or dying branches should also be removed.
The harlequin glorybower can either be pruned to a single trunk to be trained into a small tree, or pruned to encourage a bushy plant that is well-suited as a shrub. If growing as a tree, suckers at the base of the trunk should be removed regularly. Whether growing as a tree or a shrub, the harlequin glorybower should be cut back to less than 2 m in height every year in late winter or early spring to keep growth dense and compact. Pruning away dead wood in the spring will allow further blooming in late summer.
