How to Grow and Care for Malabar plum

Malabar plum is a medium-sized tree, typically reaching up to 20 feet (6 meters) in non-tropical environments, and can stretch up to 40 feet (12 meters) in more favorable tropical climates. It possesses a broad canopy supported by low spreading branches. The leaves, glossy and pink when young, mature to a leathery pale green, measuring 4-9 inches (10-23 cm) in length and about 2 inches (5 cm) in width. Midsummer brings clusters of creamy white flowers, each 2-4 inches (5-10 cm) across, composed of numerous long stamens. These blooms are notably fragrant and attract honeybees. Following flowering, the tree produces greenish-yellow fruits, roughly 1-2 inches (2.5-5 cm) in diameter, with a distinctive rose scent. The fruits offer a crisp texture when ripe but are highly perishable.
