Hiba is an imposing conifer with dense, pyramidal growth and a conical crown. It reaches heights of 30 to 50 feet (9 to 15 meters) when cultivated. Its branches sweep upward, displaying foliage that is coarse and glossy green on the top side with evident stomatal bands beneath. The bark of hiba has a distinctive flaky texture and varies in color from gray to reddish-brown. Seed cones are small, solitary, and brown, found on the terminal ends of branches, maturing in the fall season. The leaves of hiba are scale-like and dark, contributing to its lush appearance year-round.
