The winter daphne is native to China and needs a temperate climate, with a preferred temperature range of 59 to 95℉ (15 to 35℃). In winter, the plant prefers cooler temperatures to aid in dormancy, ranging from 41 to 50℉ (5 to 10℃). In summer, the plant can withstand temperatures up to 95℉ (35℃).
