From Ground: The first step is to water the grand Fir to moisturize the ground, making it easier to dig and minimizing root damage. Then, using the shovel, dig deep enough around the grand Fir to cover the dimensions of the root ball. Start broad then go deeper gently to avoid damaging the root system. After you have traced out the plant, carefully slide the spade underneath the root ball and gently lift it out. If the grand Fir won't raise easily, try digging deeper until there is no resistance.
From Pot: Start by watering the grand Fir in the pot, helping the root ball stay together. Invert the pot and gently tap it to help dislodge the plant. If the grand Fir does not dislodge easily, slide a knife between the pot walls and the dirt to loosen it.
From Seedling Tray: grand Fir can usually be easily pulled from seedling trays, particularly if the soil is moist. Handle the plant by its leaves, carefully guiding the roots out of their compartment.
