From Ground: First, water the slenderbeak sedge plant to dampen the soil which makes removal easier. Use a spade or shovel to dig a wide perimeter around the plant; be generous to preserve the root system. Gently slide the tool beneath the root ball and lift the slenderbeak sedge out of the soil.
From Pot: Water the soil in the pot to loosen the root and soil bond. Tip the pot sideways and gently tap or squeeze the pot's sides to help the slenderbeak sedge slide out. If the plant does not come out easily, run a trowel around the inside edge of the pot to free the roots.
From Seedling Tray: Water the tray to moisten the soil and gently press from the bottom of each cell to push the seedling out. Handle the slenderbeak sedge by the leaves instead of the stem to avoid damage.
