From Pot: First, water the dahlia 'Verda' a few hours before removal to soften the soil. Gently tip the pot and grasp the base of the plant. Slowly work the plant and soil out of the pot. If stuck, gently squeeze or tap the sides of the pot to loosen the soil.
From Ground: Begin by watering the soil around the dahlia 'Verda' to make it easier to dig. Using a shovel or spade, dig a wide trench around the plant to keep the root ball intact. Carefully work your spade under the root ball and lift the plant out.
From Seedling Tray: Ahead of time, water the seedlings to soften the soil. Use a pencil or a dibber to gently push up from the bottom of the cell, easing the seedling out while supporting the base of its stem.
