From Ground: Water the starfish lily thoroughly to moisten the soil. Dig a wide circle around the plant with a spade or shovel, being cautious not to damage the root ball. Once the root ball is loose, gently lift the starfish lily from the ground.
From Pot: Water the starfish lily and allow the excess to drain, which will make the root ball easier to remove. Tilt the pot sideways and gently tap or squeeze it to loosen the root ball, then slide the starfish lily out while supporting the base of the plant.
From Seedling Tray: Water the seedling to ensure the soil is not dry. Use a small tool, such as a fork or spoon, to gently lift out the individual starfish lily plant, being careful not to damage the young roots.
