From Ground: First, water the egeria Iris plant to moisten the soil. Then, use a spade or shovel to dig a trench around the plant, spaced further out than the width of the foliage, to ensure the entire root system is encapsulated. Gently lift the plant from its place making sure not to damage the root ball.
From Pot: Water the egeria Iris plant thoroughly before starting. Turn the pot to its side and gently tap to loosen the plant. Gradually slide the plant out while supporting the stem and root ball. If the plant does not come out easily, run a trowel or knife along the inside edge of the pot.
From Seedling Tray: Water the seedlings well before transplanting. Use a spoon or a small trowel to lift each seedling out of its cell, being careful not to damage the delicate roots or stems. Handle them by the leaves instead of the stems to avoid injury.
