From Ground: Begin by watering the plebeian sage plant to soften the soil. Dig a generous perimeter around the plant with your spade, being careful not to sever any roots. Gently lift the plant by sliding the spade beneath the root ball and easing it out of the ground.
From Pot: Water the plebeian sage plant to make removal easier. Tip the pot to the side and tap the bottom to loosen the soil and plant. Gently pull the plant out by the base, making sure to support the root ball.
From Seedling Tray: Water the seedlings lightly before removal. Use a garden trowel or a small stick to gently lift the seedling by pushing up from the bottom of the cell. Hold the seedling by its leaves rather than the stem to reduce damage.
