Soil Type and Its Impact on Moisture Retention
Your soil type can significantly influence how often you need to water your Fox grape. Sandy soil drains quickly and doesn't retain moisture well, meaning more frequent watering is needed. Clay soil, on the other hand, holds onto water for longer periods, reducing the frequency of watering. A loamy soil, a mix between sand and clay, is often ideal as it balances drainage and moisture retention. To test your soil's moisture retention, dig a small hole about 15 centimeters (6 inches) deep and fill it with water. If it drains within 30 minutes, your soil is on the faster-draining side, necessitating more frequent watering.
