Is Garlic toxic to cat?
It may be a culinary treat for humans, but garlic (Allium sativum) is highly concentrated in sulfuric compounds that can make cats very ill. Symptoms of ingestion (which can include weakness, a loss of coordination, discolored urine, pale gums, and vomiting and/or diarrhea) may not appear immediately after consumption, so if you suspect your cat has eaten garlic, seek the advice of your veterinarian immediately; medical treatment may be necessary in severe cases.
Is Garlic toxic to dog?
Garlic is moderately toxic to dogs. The bulb - the part that is most often prepared for cooking - is the most toxic portion. Oftentimes, dogs ingest it accidentally as a part of human dishes that are given to them as table scraps. Symptoms of garlic poisoning in dogs include vomiting, anemia, an elevated heart rate, and weakness. More severe symptoms, including coma and death may occur but are extremely rare. Usually, dogs only eat enough to become mildly ill.
