It is a cultivar of the Allium family and is a cross between Allium ‘Aflatunense’ and Allium ‘Macelanii.’ It holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit. Onions 'Gladiator' looks fabulous in garden borders and make for great cut flowers that can be dried and added to your potpourri bowl.
