Spleen amaranth has a widespread geographic presence, most notably across continents such as Africa, Asia, and Latin America, with a historical stronghold in Central and South America. While spleen amaranth is indigenous to tropical regions in the Americas, it has been introduced to numerous countries within Africa, Asia, and some parts of Europe. In certain areas, spleen amaranth is sometimes thought to be less beneficial to the local flora and fauna, particularly in the Pacific islands, certain South American countries, and a few places in Southeast Asia, where it may have an impact on native ecosystems.
