Crambe are fast-growing mustard-like crops that can be cultivated either in the winter or in spring. They are a source of both oil and oil products, as well as protein isolates, corrosion inhibitors, and wax additives. These plants grow in limestone, mudstone, and siltstone rock communities and generally within sage brushes and desert shrubs.
Water:
Crambe thrives in coastal habitats, adapting to both moisture and drought. Preferring consistent moisture, it tolerates drier conditions well. Weekly watering maintains hydration, while outdoor growth is enhanced by regular rainfall during the growing season, supporting robust development.
Propagation:
Primary propagation methods for crambe are seed sowing and division. Seed germination needs light and temperatures of 15-20°C, in well-draining, fertile soil. Division should occur in early spring, handling roots carefully. Challenges include temperature control and preventing waterlogging.
