Succulent & Cactus Soil
Soil Type
Water: Echeveria, adapted from arid regions, thrives on minimal moisture with strong drought tolerance. Water every 2-3 weeks, ensuring soil dries completely. This evergreen, preferred indoors, benefits from stable conditions and moderate light, with occasional misting to maintain humidity.
Fertilize: Fertilize echeveria during spring and summer using a balanced diluted succulent and cacti food every four weeks. Avoid fertilizing in dormant months. Adjust frequency for growth stage, applying to moist soil to prevent root burn while adhering to product guidelines for quantity.
Pruning: To maintain the shape of echeveria, prune dense or redundant branches in spring and fall. For propagation, select a stout stem with 5-6 leaves, cut, apply sulfur powder on the wound, and let it heal before planting in slightly wet soil.
Propagation: Native to rocky environments, echeveria prefers well-draining soil and is popular among gardeners for its rosette shape. Propagate via cuttings by allowing a leaf or stem to callous before placing it atop the soil. Its ability to grow from small segments showcases its hardiness, ideal for beginners.
Repotting: Repot echeveria every two years in spring for optimal growth. Select a larger pot for root expansion, and use well-draining soil with sufficient drainage holes. After repotting, position echeveria in bright, indirect light and water sparingly to prevent root rot, ensuring its robust health.
