Arugula is are bushy herbaceous plants related to cabbage. These plants commonly grow on dry, disturbed land. Some are popular salad greens with a distinct, aromatic, sharp taste and have been cultivated since ancient Roman times. Besides the human cuisine, some species represent food plants for certain moth species.
Water:
Originating from a Mediterranean climate, arugula prefers consistent hydration and requires weekly watering to avoid waterlogging. Thriving outdoors, it benefits from natural rainfall during the growing season, which supports its moderate drought tolerance and influences its life cycle.
Propagation:
Arugula is primarily propagated through seed sowing, thriving in full sun to partial shade and well-drained, fertile soil. Ideal temperatures are 45-65°F (7-18°C). For propagation, prepare soil, scatter seeds, water gently, and thin seedlings to 6 inches apart. Harvest outer leaves to promote growth.
