Grewia are a large genus of flowering plants. Their Latin name, Grewia, is in memory of English botanist Nehemiah Grew who studied pollen. Some varieties of grewia have also been used in the creation of materials, as fuelwood, and for environmental uses such as windbreaking.
Water:
Native to subtropical regions, grewia prefers consistent humidity but shows moderate drought tolerance. Watering every 1-2 weeks is ideal. Mulching is beneficial for moisture retention and root temperature regulation, assisting grewia in managing water during the growing season.
Propagation:
Grewia can be propagated by seed or stem cuttings. Use well-draining soil for seeds, ensuring ample indirect light and consistent temperatures. For cuttings, take 4-6 inch pieces from healthy stems, root in a sand and peat mix, and maintain high humidity and warmth for successful growth.
