Water: Dutch iris originates from moist, well-drained environments and thrives with consistent hydration, requiring weekly watering to maintain health. As a bulbous plant, it needs careful water management during the growing season to prevent bulb rot, particularly in outdoor settings influenced by rainfall.
Fertilize: Fertilize dutch iris with balanced nutrition monthly during growth, reducing to bi-monthly post-bloom. Follow product instructions to avoid over-fertilization. Adjust feeding seasonal, with lighter fall applications. For best results, dilute and apply around the plant's base while wearing gloves and adhering to label guidelines.
Pruning: Dutch iris features sword-like leaves and vibrant blooms, thriving with proper pruning from early to late spring. Remove dead foliage and cut back spent flower stalks post-bloom to promote healthier growth and future blooms, enhancing its overall appearance and vitality in the garden.
Propagation: Dutch iris thrives through division after blooming, using sharp, sterilized tools to reduce injury and disease. Select healthy segments with roots and leaves, replanting them promptly for root establishment, ensuring proper soil contact and depth for optimal growth.
