Swamp Orchidss is a genus of forty five species. They are evergreen, terrestrial herbs which form clumps with crowded, sometimes stem-like pseudobulbs, large, pleated leaves and relatively large, often colourful flowers. There are several pleated, stalked leaves emerging from the pseudobulb. The sepals and petals are similar in size and shape and the labellum has three lobes and a shallow pouch near its base. Orchids in the genus swamp Orchids are found in tropical Africa, India, tropical and subtropical China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, New Guinea, New Caledonia, Polynesia and Australia.
Water:
Swamp Orchids thrives in high humidity and consistent moisture, common in tropical environments. Water weekly and mist regularly to support lush growth and optimal blooming. This plant prefers a warm temperature range and is sensitive to drought conditions.
Propagation:
Swamp Orchids can be propagated through division rather than seeding. Success requires high humidity, warm temperatures (21-29°C), and a well-draining orchid potting mix. Maintain a sterile environment when cutting divisions, ensuring each has at least 3 bulbs. Provide indirect light until established.
