Stephanotis are a climbing evergreen plant native to Southeast Asia and Madagascar in humid environments. The flowers of stephanotis resemble an ear, thus its scientific name Stephanotis comes from the Greek for 'crown-ear'.
Water:
Stephanotis thrives in humidity with a preference for consistent moisture, requiring weekly watering to maintain health. It is moderate in drought tolerance and benefits from regular misting to replicate its tropical habitat, making it ideal for indoor growth in stable temperatures and indirect light.
Propagation:
To propagate stephanotis, use cuttings or seeds. Ideal conditions include temperatures of 21-27°C (70-80°F), high humidity, and bright, indirect light. Use a well-draining soil mix and avoid overwatering to prevent root rot. For cuttings, use 10 cm (4 in) stems, rooting hormone, and cover to maintain humidity.
