Water: White thyme thrives in Mediterranean climates and is drought-tolerant, requiring weekly hydration for optimal health. As an evergreen outdoor plant, it benefits from natural rainfall and usually does not need extra watering during the growing season if precipitation is sufficient.
Fertilize: The white thyme genus requires minimal fertilization; excess nutrients may cause weak growth. A small amount of NPK+sulphur is beneficial at planting, with moderate nitrogen applications post-pruning to encourage new growth. Over-fertilization can negatively affect leaf aroma quality.
Pruning: Regular pruning of white thyme is essential for dense growth and to prevent woody stems, with optimal timing in early to late spring. Pruning up to one-third promotes vigorous regrowth, improves air circulation, reduces fungal disease risk, and maintains an attractive shape.
Propagation: White thyme prefers well-drained soil and full sun. Propagation via 6-10 cm stem cuttings, rooted in peat and perlite, enhances aeration. Dipping cut ends in rooting hormone helps establish roots. A humid environment and indirect light promote growth before transferring established plants to their final location.
