Tussilago is a genus of plants in the daisy family with just one recognized species, commonly known as coltsfoot. There have been other members of this genus in the past, but these have since moved to other genus groups. Tussilago spreads quickly through underground rhizomes and since it is a fast-growing colonizer of disturbed land, it is a common sight at roadsides and construction sites.
Water:
Tussilago thrives in moist environments, requiring consistent hydration without being waterlogged. Water weekly to maintain health, while adjusting for natural rainfall during the growing season when water demand increases.
Propagation:
Propagation of tussilago involves seed sowing and division, requiring balanced sunlight, specific temperatures, and well-draining soil. Stratifying seeds can improve germination rates. Sow seeds shallowly on moist soil, or divide clumps in spring or autumn, ensuring each has roots and keeping soil moist until established.
