Plains yucca
Plains yucca is a striking perennial with rigid, sword-like leaves that form a dense rosette. Its tough foliage, often edged with white fibers, adapts well to its arid native habitat. Large clusters of white or cream flowers bloom on tall stalks, providing a sharp contrast to harsh, open grasslands.

Water: Plains yucca thrives in dry conditions and is sensitive to standing water. Water every 2-3 weeks in fall and winter, and weekly in spring and summer. Ensure soil drains well. Symptoms of over-watering include brown leaf tips and soft stems, while under-watering causes browning and wilting.
Fertilize: Plains yucca needs minimal nutrients; however, applying a basal fertilizer at planting helps. Use compound fertilizer once in spring and fall, avoiding winter applications to prevent excessive growth. Fertilize during rapid growth to enhance blooming.
Pruning: Plains yucca features rosettes of sword-shaped leaves and tall flower spikes. Prune in early spring to remove dead leaves and flower stalks post-bloom for improved vigor. This practice enhances air circulation, reduces disease risk, and maintains a neat appearance, ensuring low-maintenance growth.
Propagation: Propagation of plains yucca can be accomplished through cuttage or ramets. For ramets, divide sprouted shoots at 30cm, ensuring roots are intact. For cuttings, segment stems into 5-6cm pieces, burying them slightly in moist soil. Both methods yield high survival rates under appropriate conditions.
