Water: Yucca valida thrives in dry conditions and is sensitive to excess water. Water once every two to three weeks in fall and winter, and weekly in spring and summer. Ensure proper drainage to prevent root rot and leaf wilting from over or under-watering.
Fertilize: The yucca valida requires minimal nutrients during growth; however, applying a basal fertilizer at planting and a compound fertilizer in spring and fall can optimize growth. Avoid fertilizing in winter to prevent unfavourable growth. Additional fertilization during rapid growth may enhance blooming.
Pruning: Yucca valida features a rosette of stiff, sword-like leaves. Prune in early spring by removing dead or damaged leaves to promote new growth and prevent pests. Use sharp, clean tools for precise cuts to enhance aesthetics and longevity.
Propagation: Propagation methods for yucca valida include cuttage and ramets, both ensuring high survival rates. For ramets, divide at 30cm with roots intact and cover lightly. For cuttage, use 5-6cm stem segments, keeping tops exposed. Roots develop in two weeks; transplant seedlings promptly.
