Full Sun vs Partial Shade
The Common dogwood is a resilient and versatile plant that can grow in a variety of sunlight conditions. Ideally, it prefers full sun, which means it should receive more than 6 hours of direct sunlight each day. This amount of light ensures robust growth, abundant blooms, and vibrant fall foliage. However, Common dogwood can also tolerate partial shade, especially in hotter climates. In these conditions, aim for at least 3-4 hours of direct sunlight daily, preferably in the morning when the light is less intense.
