From Ground: Begin by watering the tequila agave thoroughly to make the soil more pliable. Use a shovel or spade to dig a generous circumference around the plant, ensuring you're well outside the spread of its leaves to protect the root system. Pry under the plant gently to lift it out of the ground while preserving as much of the root ball as possible.
From Pot: Water the tequila agave well before starting. Turn the pot sideways, hold the plant by the base, and gently tap the bottom and sides of the pot to loosen the soil. Carefully slide the tequila agave out of the pot, supporting the root ball to prevent it from breaking apart.
From Seedling Tray: Moisten the soil in the seedling tray before removing the young tequila agave. Use a spoon or a small trowel to gently lift the plant from the tray. Be especially careful not to damage the tender roots and shoots of the young plant.
