From Ground: Ensure the soil around the anise is damp by watering it first. Next, using the spade, carefully dig around the plant making sure not to damage the complex root structure. Try to keep as much of the root ball intact as you lift the anise out of the ground with the spade.
From Pot: Water the anise to dampen the soil. Gently tip the pot sideways and tap it to loosen the soil and the root ball. Carefully slide the anise out, ensuring you don't damage any stems or leaves in the process.
From Seedling Tray: Water the tray and then gently push the bottom of the individual sections to pop the anise out. Always handle the anise by the leaves to avoid damaging the stem.
