Water: Native to arid regions, rainbow cactus thrives with minimal moisture and has high drought tolerance. Watering once every three weeks ensures soil dryness. Ideal for indoor cultivation, rainbow cactus maintains its vibrant appearance year-round as an evergreen plant, adapting well to varying home humidity.
Fertilize: Fertilize rainbow cactus monthly with diluted succulent and cactus food during the growing season (spring-summer) to enhance health and flowering. Avoid winter fertilization to promote dormancy. Water before feeding and use one-quarter strength to prevent root burn. Adjust feeding frequency based on plant response.
Pruning: Rainbow cactus requires minimal pruning. It is essential to remove withered flowers and branches to direct nutrients toward healthy growth, ensuring optimal plant health.
Propagation: Rainbow cactus thrives in rocky desert areas, producing vibrant pink to purple flowers. Propagate by sowing seeds in well-draining soil and maintaining consistent moisture. Seeds sprout in 2-6 weeks with warmth and indirect sunlight. Transplant mature seedlings into individual pots for optimal growth.
Repotting: Repot rainbow cactus every 2-3 years in spring using a slightly larger, well-draining pot. After repotting, ensure bright light and minimal water to support growth while minimizing stress. Attention to rainbow cactus's specific needs is crucial for its flourishing health.
