Name Story
Medusa plant: Medusa plant gets its common name from its good looks. Named medusa plant because of the snake-like, twisted green branches that grow from the center, reminiscent of the mythological Medusa who had snakes instead of hair. The Latin name isEuphorbia flanaganii. The genus name, euphorbia, is in honor of Greek physican, Euphorus who lived around the 1st century BC. The specific epithet, flanaganii, is in honor of George Flanagan, a plant collector who lived in South Africa in the 19th century.
