How much water does alpine speedwell need?
Generally, alpine speedwell should be watered every 3 to 4 days. Although alpine speedwell does not require much water, keeping the soil moist during its growth period, recover period and flowering period is better for its growth. Its growth period is from spring to fall. It takes a certain period of time for the injured root system to regain its originally vigorous growth due to division or transplantation, which is called the recover period. Water it once in the recover period three days after division.
In its vigorous growth period, due to multiple branches and leaves, quick evaporation and the sunny and dry weather, it is necessary to increase the frequency of watering. Make sure the soil is moist during the flowering period as well, especially in its full bloom. Lack of water will shorten the flowering period of alpine speedwell. If water shortage occurs due to dry weather or other reasons, it is more important to water it timely, for example, when the soil is completely dry.
In winter, the plant goes dormant, requiring little water and absorbing moisture very slowly, so attention must be paid to the drainage and avoiding water accumulation caused by overwatering. In general, as it enters winter, the overground branches and leaves of alpine speedwell begin to turn yellow and wither. Water it once at that time. After that, there is no need worrying it in the whole winter. When the early spring arrives and the ground temperature rises above 0 ℃, prune the yellowed and withered parts of alpine speedwell and water it thoroughly. In this way, its growth period for the new year begins.
