Dragon tree is a drought tolerant ornamental tree suitable for growing in parks and other open areas. Although it can be grown outdoors in US hardiness zones ten through twelve, in all other areas of the United States it must be grown indoors. These slow-growing trees can take up to 15 years to mature and flower.
Name Story
Dragon tree: The dragon tree is known for its thick, red resin called "dragon's blood". It got the name from one of the tales of Hercules's adventures. The legend has it that there were 3 golden apples were guarded by 100 dragons. Hercules managed to defeat the dragons and acquired the apples. Dracaena Draco grew when it was in contact with dragon blood. The trunk of the plant appears like a scaled dragon leg, so it is called the dragon tree.
